Research

My research focuses on the cognitive and neural changes that occur in healthy aging and dementia. In particular, I am interested in the early detection of Alzheimer's disease, and the predictive roles of biomarkers (PET and MRI imaging, cerebrospinal fluid, genetic markers) in cognitive decline. Other ongoing work examines the influence of lifestyle factors such as cognitive stimulation on Alzheimer's disease and normal aging, and the impact of chemotherapy on neural and cognitive function.

I received a BA at Wesleyan University and a MA and PhD at the University of California, Berkeley, where my dissertation and postdoctoral work included research on working memory, practice and expertise, dopamine function and aging, and functional MRI scanning and image analysis.
